TAMWORTH Regional Council is looking into an incident in which a woman fell on the footpath outside the City Plaza car park and was taken to Tamworth
Hospital.
Cindy-Anne Wright said she was walking along the footpath on the corner of Marius and Fitzroy streets when the front of her shoe went down one of the holes in the footpath.
“I smashed my head and my glasses cut into my head,” she said.
“I’m pretty agile and was wearing sensible shoes but there were all potholes and a grate in the ground with the path around it all chipped.”
Mrs Wright said she was knocked out and when she came to a man from
Mildura had her head on his lap, holding it on either side so she couldn’t move.
She was then taken to hospital by ambulance where she was kept for six hours for observation as her blood pressure was very high.
A police officer drove her car up to the emergency department for Mrs Wright so she could travel home to Watsons Creek.
Mrs Wright said she contacted The Leader about the incident because she didn’t want someone else falling and hurting themselves even more severely than she did.
A Tamworth Regional Council spokesman said the matter would be looked at by the footpaths section and insurance people would also be looking at the exact place that Mrs Wright fell.
He said the council would then decide if any action needed to be taken.
