Carbon credits will not stop pollution

Carbon credits will not stop pollution

AUSTRALIA is facing the biggest test of all time, and it will take sustained pressure to bring it to heel.

The Garnaut report is not good, and will never be implemented entirely. Mr Garnaut, himself, said that we should not argue the point about whether or not the science is correct, we must look at what will happen if we fail to act.

Before continuing let me say that I am astounded by the sheer arrogance of these people, who believe that they can predict the actions of nature and foretell that nature will get it wrong without their intellectual input. Climate, or weather, fluctuation is an ongoing phenomenon, which travels in cycles, and within cycles that are of indeterminate length of time.

A good example of the veracity of those involved in climate change is Penny Wong, the Minister for Climate Change, who tells us that Cubbie Station, and others, are only taking water that is excess to requirements. Cubbie is taking water in amounts that are described as multiples of Sydney Harbour, and for about $263 a year. Of course the general manager of the Cubbie outfit is a Mr DeLacy, former treasurer in a Goss Labor Queensland Government.

With carbon credits, a business may pay to pollute, yet that which would appear to be a cost of that action, is actually recovered by the business being allowed to increase its prices to the community. In any case carbon credits do not stop the pollution. The pollution continues, but with fancy dressing designed to obfuscate the populace.

Each year Kevin 07 will reduce the amount of allowable pollution, so business and industry will have to scale back their work to comply, or buy credits off some other business. This will in turn force the government to reduce new entries into the industrial/business sphere, forcing up prices outside of the nominal credit cost price rises.

Reduced new entry leads to stagnation, and total absence of new jobs.

Have you ever thought about the way many in the world suffer from starvation, and why the developed world does not do anything to help them? Have you thought about the Malthusian argument that the world is overpopulated? Well, don’t worry any more. This climate change stuff will force the price of foodstuffs up to a level that many nations, now struggling to feed their people, will be annihilated.

Garnaut’s report, surprisingly, does not question an increase in the price of diesel fuel, only petrol. Miners like BHP are a mile in front, they are going to destroy farming land on the Liverpool Plains before climate change. Yet there is no plan to reject coal mining on farming land. Remember that from diesel comes “particulate matter” a known carcinogenic.

I am wondering why we have not experienced some alteration in the atmosphere, with all the polluting gases being sent skywards? How come the atmospheric ring is not expanding? How come it is not harder to breathe? How come the outline of the ranges about here are cleaner than they have been for years? When will planes be unable to fly?

We are witnessing the creation of a massive new industry, that will produce nothing, manufacture nothing, yet employ thousands, and make many very rich.
