Right to define marriage as a union

Right to define marriage as a union

I AM thankful to Bev Pattenden for her letter to the editor (The Leader, July 22) “Submissions for inquiry close Friday”.

I suggest that as a matter of urgency, the Senate Inquiry that was forced by Federal coalition be extended until the September local government election is held in NSW.

Surely we, the people of NSW have a right to have a say and define marriage as a union between a male and a female.

I object to being called Ms, which was the first step to eliminating Mr, Mrs, Sir, Madam, Matron, Sisters, Nurses etc.

I have already sent letters to members of parliament requesting a survey be taken at the September local government elections, requesting that IVF children have a right to know full details of birth-mother and birth-father and their extended

family.

TST reported on July 20, 2008 Brave New World: “Wombs, eggs and sperm could be created in science labs within decades”.

Professor Gab Kovacs from Monash IVF, agreed this could become a reality one day, but doubts it will be accepted.

Davor Salter from Singapore’s Institute of Medical Biology said growing eggs and sperm from a patient’s own cells could easily “happen within 30 years. Newborn children could have their own

children”.

In April 2008, Kevin Rudd rejected a move to drop Labor’s socialist platform at the party’s National

Conference.
