IT IS time something was done regarding supermarket trolleys. I thought the trolleys were provided for use within the shopping complex, not to be taken home then left on the street for the louts to destroy or throw over the bridge.
Nobody makes an effort to return them and I feel that the supermarkets should put some sort of returnable deposit on trolleys that make them worth returning or make it an offence to remove them from the complex. After all, they are the property of the various shopping complexes. The Warehouse has a refundable deposit scheme and you do not see their trolleys around town.
It must cost a small fortune to repair and replace the lost and damaged trolleys and in the long run the cost will be borne by the consumer anyway, if it is not already happening.
